I completed my first Doula training in 2012. From the very first day of training I did not feel like I was in a room full of strangers, but a room full of sisters. I have been so lucky to have been in many situations where I am eminently aware (and proud) of the power and strength of women; of our sisterhood.

After practicing as a Birth Doula at 20 births in Saskatchewan, I decided to traverse to East Africa to volunteer in women’s hospitals to gain more experience before I re-applied the following year for Midwifery after not getting in. I witnessed hundreds of births in my time in Tanzania and Uganda. Of course, I gained so much more than just experience- I gained invaluable lessons of life, love, hardship, privilege, inequity and humanity.

When I arrived home in Canada, I began working in my educational field as a social worker in an elementary school. The young people that I have met have quite simply changed my life and made me a better version of the woman I am becoming. So, I come at being a Doula; your Doula, not only from the aspect of wanting to support your birth, but from the aspect of supporting your re-birth and expansion as you navigate early parenthood.

I am ecstatic to be joining a wonderful group of holistic women practitioners at The Nest Clinic, offering Doula services. I will be offering primarily postpartum, bereavement and encapsulation services. Please contact me to explore these offerings further.
